Utilising experience and tradition to create sustainable development that will extend long into the future. LEMCO has the ability to promote innovative measures to make this happen. When LEMCO considers innovation, there are several factors that we acknowledge:
- Indigenous Stakeholders
We encourage an innovative approach towards our sustainable agricultural development initiatives. Hence, we ensure that indigenous communities remain 25% shareholders, so that they receive their equitable share of revenue and remain an active voice in the development process. This encourages indigenous communities to develop their skillset and knowledge base, whilst participating in a practice that is familiar.
- Indigenous Representation
LEMCO will ensure that Indigenous communities are receiving positive development outcomes in the form of community development, resources and employment. We oversee all commercial activities with regards to these indigenous communities to ensure that they are not taken advantage of, and instead they are taking advantage of the opportunities that commercial activity can bring them.
- Training and Education Initiatives
We approach training and education within remote communities by providing opportunities such as the ability to gain a professional qualification. LEMCO will implement training provisions with a long-term focus, to enable indigenous populations to carry out their required roles. Training will be provided with a focus on three main areas; social skills, work ethic generation, and skill set acquisition.
- Renewable Energy Systems
We utilise the latest technology and innovation to provide power to remote communities. An example of this is the LedTek Mini Power Station. The Mini Power Station stores and manages renewable energy from Solar, Wind and Hydro sources, with the ability to power a small village. LEMCO will utilise this technology to not only power villages but also provide ongoing support due to opportunities this affords. Essentially, the implementation of power will lead to communicative infrastructure such as internet access. Improved access then leads to greater exposure to educational opportunities and so forth. Hence, one innovative initiative will act as a catalyst for other initiatives.
- Communication Services
LEMCO will encourage sustainable development of remote communities by providing telecommunication and radio networks. These networks will greatly improve communication across entire regions, allowing for business and tourism opportunities for local communities.
