Sustainability requires the natural environment to have the ability to endure the population and economic expansion both in the short and long term. Hence, sustainable development is economic development that occurs without the exhaustion of natural resources.
LEMCO acknowledges sustainability through our approach, which includes the implementation of the blockchain initiative Natures Coin and the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) mitigation process. Natures Coin is utilised to encourage transparency of funds allocated to conservation and sustainability projects, as part of a blockchain application. We concede that sustainable economic thinking not only links businesses to carbon off-setting projects but also that an interest holding stake in the land can be created. Essentially, the focus for this is to combine efforts to stop deforestation with those to provide a sustainable economic future for indigenous communities. REDD allows us to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, whilst also bringing the benefits of biodiversity conservation and the alleviation of poverty.
We are committed to undertaking the process of becoming a Green Project Management certified organisation. LEMCO will then be able to offer training and professional services in sustainability for the developing economies where we are conducting project development.
LEMCO assimilates the UN Sustainable Development Goals throughout our project management practices. We have also recognised sustainability in our framework and balance sheet assets. Furthermore, the establishment of networks has allowed for community input to be translated into the marketplace. Such input will result in improved livelihood for indigenous communities who are now playing a role in sustainable economic growth. LEMCO have ensured that throughout this process, culture has been preserved.
Our sustainable solutions are based around community development, solar, water and waste, with the benefits in the form of a benefit sharing scheme, communal ownership, conservation, eco-friendly waste management, creating renewable opportunities and eco system preservation.
